HEY, ROGER AILES, I SEE THAT "COURSE CORRECTION" IS TAKING A WHILE

I keep hearing that Roger Ailes is trying to make a "course correction" at Fox News -- less rallying of the crazy base, more appeal to the mainstream. But hours after Mitt Romney had a softball interview on Fox, the lead story on the message board of the Ailes empire, Fox Nation, is not the Romney interview, but this:

The Fox Nation thread takes you to this story:

...consider the words of John Drew, a man whom writer Paul Kengor calls "Obama's Missing Link." A contemporary of Obama's at Occidental College three decades ago, Drew says that he himself was a Marxist at the time -- and part of Obama's inner circle. And what does he reveal?

Obama was an "ardent" "Marxist-Leninist" who "was in 100 percent, total agreement with [his] Marxist professors," said Drew....

Drew doesn't believe the President has changed, either....

A couple of problems here with Ailes's oh-so-reliable source: Drew (who writes for David Horowitz's NewsReal blog and for the American Thinker, and who has been flogging this story for quite a while now) left Occidental College before Obama arrived, and only met Obama twice. We know he only met Obama twice because, as this blogger notes, Drew admitted as much:

The larger issue is my relationship with Obama. In truth, I only met him twice.

Drew subsequently acknowledged that he wrote this, but then said it all depends on what the definition of "twice" is:

...I got into trouble when I wrote:
The larger issue is my relationship with Obama. In truth, I only met him twice. What's missing, however, is that Obama and I were part of an intense cultural sub-group due to our connections at Occidental College.
At the time I wrote that statement - as a post at Patriot Action Network - I was being too hasty. (Technically, it is physically impossible for me to have met him twice any ways, since - by the second encounter - I knew who he was.)

Ideally, I should have written that I talked with young Obama a few times and that only two of my encounters resulted in what might become memorable conversations.

As a matter of intellectual honesty, I feel a responsibility to report that I also remember I bumped into him in The Cooler on campus, I visited the apartment he shared with Chandoo and I saw him around the campus mail boxes. As I recall, on this last encounter, Obama and his roommate - Hasan Chandoo - asked me if I would be attending a graduation party with them. I think this minor increase in my reported contacts, from two to maybe five, is largely consistent with my earlier statements....

So it's all perfectly understandable if you just stop nitpicking and grasp the obvious fact that the common English word "twice" actually means "anywhere from two times to a bunch more than two times." So it's obvious that Drew is telling the truth!

Drew goes on to say that David Remnick, in his Obama biography, The Bridge, "confirms my take on the young Obama's ideology." (In fact Remnick rejects the notion that Obama was "doctrinaire" or that he thought "programmatically.")

If you want to know more of Drew's thoughts on this matter, go to "CIA Columbia Obama Sedition and Treason Trial Transcript of Day 3," where you can read an interview of Drew by the Reverend Dr. James David Manning.

That would be this guy:

Meet the Hon. James David Manning, PhD, a minister and Internet broadcaster from the Harlem neighborhood of New York City who HATES President Barack “Hussein” Obama. I mean really hates him. Manning has called Obama a pimp, a “homo” crackhead and Hitler.

His favorite thing to call the President, however, is “the long-legged Mack Daddy.” Manning also hates Michelle Obama, has called her ugly, a slut and has even suggested she visit the same plastic surgeon as Michael Jackson. Manning's Trinity of Hell is comprised of Obama, Oprah Winfrey and the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. It should probably come as no surprise that he's been a guest on Sean Hannity's Fox News and radio shows....

Once again: this is the lead story at Fox Nation right now. Reports of a "course correction" at Fox are greatly exaggerated.

Well, I'm glad that in Manning, they at least went through the trouble of finding an objective source.

And Steve, the 'course' they were trying to 'correct' after the interview was for Mitt's rapidly sinking ship.

If Obama's all Marxist and stuff, shouldn't he try once in a while, oh, I don't know, doing something that could be construed as remotely Marxist or just leftist or hell even just plain ol' liberal? 'Cause otherwise, his credentials in that regard seem very much in doubt.

It is really odd to read these comments, now spreading widely on the internet, that I'm somehow a less than reliable source for reporting on young Obama's ideology. Here's an article I wrote recently that reacted to the silly criticisms made on my eyewitness report on young Obama's commitment to extremist ideology. http://anonymouspoliticalscientist.blogspot.com/2011/09/i-was-surprised-and-somewhat-honored-to.html For a look at how my story was ignored by the mainstream media in 2008, please see http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/09/even_republicans_rejected_info_about_obamas_past.html The bottom line is that David Remnick, in The Bridge, verified my take on young Obama by reporting that Hasan Chandoo was a Marxist and that Caroline Boss was president of the Democrat Socialist Alliance at Occidental College. My comments simply connect the dots to the obvious. Obama was exactly like the folks he hung out with at Occidental College and not some sort of middle of the road technocratic centrist as he would like most of us to believe.

I could not help but notice how the information in this blog post was leveraged by Mark at News Corpse. My complaint with News Corpse is that Mark asserts that I said I was a "close friend" of young Obama. This, of course, is something I never said.

Nevertheless, News Corpse makes up a comment from me to then make it look like I'm exaggerrating my ties to young Obama. Since News Corpse did not print my rebuttal, I've loaded it up on my own Anonymous Political Scientist blog site.
