YET ANOTHER SIGN THAT FOX DOESN'T SEEK PALIN-CIDE

I'm not surprised that a Fox reporter debunked Sarah Palin's conspiratorial remarks about the placement of "In God We Trust" on one of our coins:

Palin said this past Friday that there had been a lot of "change" of late, and talked about the dollar coin -- how the phrase "In God We Trust" had been moved to the rim of the coin, rather than on the face. "Who makes a decision like that?" said Palin, seemingly pointing to the Obama administration, adding: "It's a disturbing trend."

However, the coins were in fact commissioned in 2005 by the Republican-led government of the time. And as Baier adds, Congress acted specifically to change this
in 2007....

On Saturday I told you that the #1 story at Fox Nation wasn't Fort Hood, health care, or the recent raid on ACORN headquarters in New Orleans -- it was a Tim Pawlenty speech in Iowa. This despite the fact that Murdoch's publishing company is releasing Palin's book next Tuesday. I'm repeating myself, but here goes: for Murdoch, the tea-party-style energy is good for ratings, and he also thinks it's good for lifting GOP turnout in low-turnout 2010. But for high-turnout 2012, when the GOP will need more than a strong showing by the base, an electable candidate at the top of the ticket will be needed. So Fox is going to take subtle jabs at Palin going forward, and will probably start seriously giving her the cold shoulder beginning in early 2011, in the hope that a Teabagger Lite candidate can win the nomination instead of her (while keeping the Obama-hate energy going, which Fox needs for its ratings). Now, it might not work -- but if Palin wins the nomination anyway, it's not going to be because Murdoch went all in for her. Far from it.
