WHAT DOES A REPUBLICAN HAVE TO DO TO BECOME A PARIAH IN THIS COUNTRY?

I assumed he'd give a speech like this eventually, but I'm rather taken aback at the location:

...Mitt Romney will take to to the Bush Library in College Station, Texas, on Thursday to give a long-anticipated, much-debated speech about his Mormon faith and the role of religion in American public life.

...That it it's coming at Texas A&M is not a surprise nor an accident.... Romney has given a major speech there before and is close to George H.W Bush and his wife, Barbara.

[Romney spokesman Eric] Fehrnstrom said they "reached out to President Bush's office last week, and they graciously agreed to host the event."

The 41st president will introduce Romney....

Couldn't even get 40% of the vote when he ran for reelection? Sired the worst president we've ever had, a guy whose approval rating barely breaks 30%? So why isn't Romney running screaming from him and all other Bushes? Why aren't any of the Republicans (apart from Ron Paul)?

Good grief, maybe Jeb will be the damn VP nominee.

****

UPDATE: Greetings, C&L readers ... while I have your attention on the subject of Romney's speech, please be forewarned: He's not going to defend his Mormonism. He's going to tell everyone that the evil liberals are persecuting religious people.
