Standing by the president:

ROURKE PLEDGES SUPPORT TO BUSH

Movie & Entertainment News provided by World Entertainment News Network (www.wenn.com)

MICKEY ROURKE has pledged his support for US President GEORGE W BUSH's controversial foreign policy in Iraq.

The SIN CITY actor, who is famed for being for being outspoken, has come forward as one of the few stars to support the war on terror.

The former boxer says, "George is doing a hell of a job during very difficult times, more power to him. Screw all them people who don't like him."

Well, Rourke is a self-involved substance abuser with a petulant streak (did he really walk off a movie set because the filmmakers refused to cast his Chihuahua?), yet he's been given nearly limitless opportunities to make a comeback -- so, in a way, it's a perfect match.

(Oh, except for the fact that Rourke is worshipped by the French.)
